Duty station: home-based (remote working) until international travel restrictions are lifted for Thailand

Expected duration: 3 months on probation followed by a 9-month contract

Background
ILGA Asia is the Asian Region of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association, representing East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia and West Asia. The Region was first established in Mumbai in 2002. Our vision is a world where Asia is a safe place for all, where all can live in freedom and equality, be properly informed in the nature of sexual orientation and gender identity & expression and sex characteristic (SOGIESC) rights, have access to justice, and diversity is respected.
Our missions are:
To promote universal respect for and observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms, including the elimination of all forms of discrimination and stigmatization based on SOGIESC in Asia and including the specific provisions of the UN conventions and covenants specified in the Constitution of ILGA;
To work for the equality of all people regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression and sex characteristic, as well as liberation from all forms of discrimination and stigmatization; and
To empower and support LGBTI communities, organizations and individuals in Asia, while encouraging community building and networking.
Key responsibilities
A. Programme implementation
Assist the Executive Director in the design and launch of the new Strategic Plan for the next 5 years, including consultations with members and stakeholders
Lead the programme implementation in line with ILGA Asia’ Strategic Plan
Manage relationships with key stakeholders and partners
Provide technical assistance to members and partners to develop their work plan and deliver their activities
Coordinate, together with the Finance and Admin Officer, all logistical arrangements for meetings, events, and other activities as applicable
Develop and disseminate, together with the Communications and Campaign Officer and the UN Advocacy Officer, the knowledge, multimedia products and resources amongst members, LGBTI groups, civil societies and other stakeholders
B. Financial management
Develop and monitor project budgets and financial activities, together with the Executive Director and the Finance and Admin Officer
Monitor local partners’ budgets and financial reports
Comply with financial requirements from ILGA Asia’s internal control process and donors
Support the Executive Director in resource mobilisation activities, including writing funding proposals and managing relationships with funders
C. Monitoring and evaluation
Lead M&E activities for local partners’ projects
Develop case studies and learning agenda for ILGA Asia and local partners
Collect reporting from local partners and produce regular project reports for ILGA Asia’s internal control process and donors
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Social Sciences or related field
Strong writing skill in English is a requirement; proficiency in 1 or 2 other Asian languages is an asset
At least 3 years of work experience in project management in the field of human rights or development, with proven track records in managing the budget and producing succinct, analytical and results-oriented reports;
Experience with M&E plans and database is desirable;
Good organisational skills, including the ability to work in a team, albeit remotely, the ability to manage competing priorities, and to work independently;
Substantive understanding of LGBTI/SOGIESC issues in Asia
Ability to work in a multicultural and diverse environment, particularly the sensitivity and adaptability to differences in culture, race, nationality, gender, religion, identity, age
A desire to support the LGBTI movement and a commitment to empower LGBTI individuals;
The position is open to people of all gender identities, sexual orientations or sex characteristics; those who identify as a lesbian or bisexual woman, trans person or intersex person are strongly encouraged to apply;
First-hand experience, either as a volunteer or an employee, in an LGBTI organization is highly desirable
