Executive Summary
Despite the outbreak of the pro-democracy protests in Bangkok in 2020, the general political environment for the operation of the non-profit sector within the country has not been severely curtailed. Thailand, for the most part, has been able to control the spread of the virus, with the occasional surge in new cases every few months. ILGA Asia has managed the office’s daily function throughout the year. In the face of widespread transmission of COVID-19 across the globe, ILGA Asia adopted flexible and effective measures to maintain its work on advocacy and capacity building. None of the newly recruited staff arrived in Thailand last year, and the team worked with each other virtually throughout the year. In addition, ILGA Asia modified our activities and plans accordingly, and that helped us strengthen our influences among our members, local activists and organisations, and further enhance the collaboration with them at all levels.
