PPower of Pride (PoP) is an international development program implemented by COC Nederland, Pan Africa ILGA, and ILGA Asia. The program envisions a world where diverse and inclusive societies allow LGBTIQ+ individuals to participate fully and equally. Operating across 22 countries in Asia and Africa, PoP supports LGBTIQ+ Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) that play a crucial role in advancing human rights.
Recognizing the challenges faced by LGBTIQ+ organizations—such as limited funding, leadership gaps, and socio-political barriers—PoP launched the Community of Practice (CoP) on Organizational Development in July 2024. This initiative brings together LGBTIQ+ experts, activists, and advocates to share and explore strategies for strengthening organizations through inclusive leadership, sustainability, and socio-political preparedness.
Key Focus Areas of the CoP
The CoP is structured around three thematic areas, each addressing critical questions for the sustainability of LGBTIQ+ organizations:
Developing and Sustaining Inclusive Leadership
How can underrepresented groups such as LBQ women, trans people, trans sex workers, and people with disabilities be empowered to take on leadership roles?Working Sustainably
What strategies can organizations use to retain trained staff and address financial and operational challenges?Socio-Political Preparedness
How can LGBTIQ+ organizations better respond to anti-rights movements, political opposition, and emergency crises?
A Learning Tool: 2D Animated Explainer Video & Workbook
To make these concepts more accessible, PoP is developing a 2D animated explainer video (2-4 minutes) alongside a learning workbook. This interactive educational tool will support LGBTIQ+ CBOs in Asia and Africa by:
✅ Breaking down complex topics into engaging, easy-to-understand visual content
✅ Incorporating diverse voices and cultural contexts to reflect the lived experiences of LGBTIQ+ communities
✅ Providing translations and accessibility features such as subtitles and sign language interpretation
Call for Consultants
PoP is seeking an individual, team, or firm with expertise in animation, advocacy, and storytelling to develop this learning tool. The consultant will work closely with CoP members and the PoP Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team to ensure the video is informative, impactful, and accessible.
