Title: Senior Communications Officer (Digital Competency)
Duty station: Remote / Hybrid (Preferred location: Bangkok, Thailand)

Salary and benefits: 70,000 THB per month, Health insurance, Social security contribution.
Duration of Initial Contract: 3 months on probation followed by a 9-month contract; the contract is renewable on an annual basis.

THE ROLE
ILGA Asia is seeking a Senior Communications Officer with desirable digital competency skills such as AI, coding, and software programming to expand our digital communication and membership engagement. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the organisation's communication strategy with a focus on digital communication.
THE ORGANISATION
ILGA Asia is the Asian Region of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Intersex Association, representing more than 190 member organisations across East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and West Asia. Our vision is a world where Asia is a safe place for all, where all can live in freedom and equality, be properly informed in the nature of sexual orientation and gender identity & expression and sex characteristic (SOGIESC) rights, have access to justice, and diversity is respected; regardless of their age, race, ethnicity, nationality, belief, language, class, caste, health and other statuses.

To promote universal respect for and observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms, including the elimination of all forms of discrimination and stigmatisation based on SOGIESC in Asia and including the specific provisions of the UN conventions and covenants specified in the Constitution of ILGA;

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
Implementation of Communication Strategy
Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy that targets a wide range of audiences, including media and public relations, online and social media, communications with membership, and campaigning. Conduct communication-related research to understand the needs and interests of each audience segment, including media, ILGA Asia members, donors, and the general public.
Identify the most effective communication channels for each audience segment, such as social media platforms, email newsletters, and press releases.
Develop a plan to leverage each communication channel for maximum reach.
Identify new opportunities to expand ILGA Asia’s reach and engagement through digital means.
Coach, hustle and inspire every ILGA Asia staff member to become better digital power builders.
Work together with the MEL officer to monitor progress and evaluate the impact of communication efforts.
Digital Content Development
Develop digital content, such as website copy, social media posts, email newsletters, and other communication channels, that resonates with ILGA Asia’s target audiences.
Tailor messaging, including frequency, tone, and content. to each specific platform and optimise it for maximum impact.
Write and edit content quickly and accurately while ensuring that all messaging and content are consistent with ILGA Asia’s brand and messaging guidelines.
Bring innovative new ideas and channels into ILGA Asia’s suite of tools, such as integrating AI tools.
Media and Stakeholders Engagement
Identify key media outlets and relevant stakeholders at national, regional, and international levels that are aligned with ILGA Asia’s mission and goals.
Build relationships with journalists, media outlets and other stakeholders to position ILGA Asia as a go-to source for information on LGBTIQ issues in Asia.
Pitch stories and provide information to journalists in a timely and effective manner, including press releases, media advisories, and interviews.
Track and measure the impact of media coverage on ILGA Asia’s engagement activities, including member retention and satisfaction.
Qualifications and experiences:
At least a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in digital marketing, journalism, or media and communications is preferred.
At least 5+ years of experience in digital communication, with a focus on non-profit or advocacy organisations.
Strong writing skills in English and proficiency in at least one or two other Asian languages.
Prior experience working with the press is required; previous experience working for a news agency or a media company is an advantage.
Basic knowledge of graphic design software is required, and knowledge of a publishing tool is an advantage.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute effective communication strategies.
Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Knowledge of LGBTIQ issues in Asia, familiarity with gender and sexuality issues, and a passion for advancing equality and human rights for all individuals regardless of sexual orientation, gender, or gender identity.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience working in an international or cross-cultural context is an advantage.
Fast learner with a growth mindset and the ability to keep up with the latest technologies and trends in digital communication.
Valued but not required
Ability to utilise software tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, or Canva, to create and edit digital marketing materials such as graphics, videos, and social media content.
Desirable knowledge/expertise in the use of AI tools for communication, coding, and software programming to further expand ILGA Asia's digital communication and membership engagement.
Previous experience in using data analytics platforms to optimise websites and increase traffic.
